AC Shadows Introduces Bizarre Attack on Titan Crossover for Holiday Season
In a unexpected crossover event that breaks conventional predictions, Ubisoft has announced an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, providing complimentary bonus story content for Shadows players.
Peculiar Adventure Uncovered
According to the formal announcement, "A strange meeting pulls heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a new adventure, where whispers of forbidden rituals and fearsome transformations reverberate through the shadows." The narrative features a "strangely attired woman named Ada" who assigns the pair with traveling into the Crystal Cave—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her ally from a secret sect.
The adventure focuses on "bizarre tests and a monstrous adversary" and is open to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Iconic Locations and Changes
The preview features the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This important location was previously where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through eras. The preview finishes with a striking sequence showing a character, presumably the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Exclusive Rewards and Extra Material
Players who successfully complete the adventure will obtain an unique katana in addition to several objects concealed throughout the area in secret chests. The update also includes in-store Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-inspired attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Exclusive implements
- Survey Corps steed
Latest Free Story Addition
This update also brings the game's third free story addition, titled "The Mystery." This lighthearted adventure teams Naoe and Yasuke as they trade signature abilities: Naoe reveals a theatrical interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-fatal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "A Puzzlement" also features a new environmental puzzle that may ultimately shed light on some unanswered questions from the main storyline.
Previous Japanese Animation Collaborations
This marks not the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with famous anime franchises. The series earlier included a 2020 collaborative story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla unofficially included a quest that clearly nodded to the well-known series One-Punch Man.
